Secular Ethos

The Preamble to the Indian Constitution added the word “secular” in the year 1976. It begins with the words, ‘We the people’ & goes on to define the Indian State as a ‘Sovereign, Socialist, Secular, Democratic Republic.’

But what does ‘Secular’ really mean?

‘Secular’ means that religion is regarded as a private matter, without the state supporting any particular religion. Every citizen is free to follow his/her religious beliefs.

We, here at Carol, understand this & encourage all our students to keep a “Secular” mindset and respect all religions equally. This in turn shapes their personality and widens their perspective. Such values help them keep a tolerant & respectful attitude and thereby, helps contribute towards the betterment of a Nation.

At Carol, we celebrate the secular ethos of our Nation by celebrating all the festivals with equal zeal.
